Dog and Cat Fun at Open House Parties in Traverse City

It was a day to be surrounded by dog and cat fun at the Cherryland Humane Society and AC Paw Open House on Sunday, August 26th.

The Cherryland Humane Society in Traverse City held an Open House to tour the facility, meet the animals, see the K9 demonstration and partake in a few seminars.

There were a few things we learned while touring the facility, including the existence of a room full of unused kennels that are kept for emergency purposes within the county. It's nice to know that if there's an animal hoarding case or an event that involves a large amount of animals needing a place to stay, Cherryland Humane Society will be there to help.

There is also a library of animal books that the public is encouraged to use as well as rooms available to spend time alone with the cats and dogs when deciding on who to adopt. Another nice feature was the courtyard with the outside dog runs.

AC Paw also held their Open House and Pet Reunion today. June McGrath, one of the founders, said that this was her favorite day all year because it's a chance to visit with a lot of their adopted dogs who stop by to visit.

It was certainly a busy day full of dogs, a K9 demonstration, Blessing of the Pets and much more.

The Pet Poison Helpline is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians, clinical toxicologists, and other health care professionals. There is a $35 consultation fee for their service. Click on the link above for more info.
