Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit to Receive New Police Dog

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit is pleased to announce a $5,000 donation from Del Monte Pet Products and Milk-Bone in partnership with SAMS Club for the purchase of a new police dog. This donation is part of an on-going effort to support local law enforcement and security preparedness nationwide.

At a ceremony in the parking lot of the SAMS Club on US 31 in Traverse, Sheriff Scott Fewins received the $5,000 donation and officers performed a K-9 unit skills demonstration for all attendees.

To further involve the community, SAMS Club and the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office invited guests from the city of Billings and the county of Grand Traverse to attend the ceremony and view the K-9 skills demonstration.

This ceremony commemorates the partnership between Milk-Bone and SAMS Club to sponsor the new K-9 Officer. From the initiation of this partnership in 2003, this event marks the 22nd K-9 donated to a local community.

As part of the Milk-Bone Canine Heroes ProgramTM, the Milk-Bone nationwide police dog donation program helps law enforcement agencies add to or maintain canine units at no cost to tax-paying citizens. Over 700 police and service dogs have been sponsored by Milk-Bone to communities across the country since 1997.
